Interpet FishBox/Pod range lighting issues
«

Hi,
I have one of the Interpet Fishbox/pod tanks with built in switchable day/night lighting. The unit was only purchased on the 11th of October this year and is now on its 3rd fluorescent lamp. Interpet sent me a replacement out for the first one that blow after only 2 weeks and upon returning home yesterday this replacment has blown. These lamps are designed to give thousands of hours use so cant understand it.
Has anyone else got of of these tanks and had the same issues??
Is there any way of modifying it to run different lamps??

It is unlikely you have the wrong tubes as length and wattage are normally linked but if you have a faulty controller that is giving too much power or particularly 'dirty' power it might be causing the problems.
Will interpet exchange the whole lighting unit?

glad your sorted xx
i have 2 of these tanks and never had any lighting issues .
infact my 1st bulb has just been replaced after nearly 1 year ..the blue moonlight one i got my lfs to order it in so easy to get hold of also ..havent changed any others yet so most likely yours was def faulty
just a pointer keep an eye on the filters that come with these tanks as they tend to clogg easy esp if got moss or cambo stuff ...

Thanks for the heads up Kaz... will keep a watch on it.. Being new into the hobby and not wanting to spend a fortune to get started, i have found the overall set up very good value all round.
Also found myself wanting to expand to bigger and better..

lol Rick its contageous you start with 1 tank and it keeps on spreading i now have 8 soon to be 9 ....but its a great starting tank..
i started with the fish box or pod depending on where you buy it ..thought it was a good value package incl stand and still love the tank so much when i had chance to swap someone for another i jumped at chance..the moon light is great and if it wasnt for the filter it would be perfect ..
but its not a major prob if it starts to slow down just unclog it and its back to normal asap..
moss, amazon swords, vallis ,grasses and anubias do great in this tank..even got mine to flower..and cambo stuff grows crazy but causes too much prob
shame..
are you in a fishless cycle or hows yours doing ?
you no we will be needing pics soon ..

Unfortunatley i was given bad info by P&H and lfs so have gone through the cycle with fish in. Lost a couple of tetras
along the way but have got it cycled now. Wish i had come across tff before i started.
What sort of fish did you keep in yours and what sort of numbers?? just to give me some idea how best to stock it.

As this was my 1st tank i also recieved bad advice from p@h but luckally the guys and gals on here soon put me right ..as i didnt have a clue on shoals etc i lost a couple as had started via a fish in cycle ..also lost few shrimps due to poss copper wash on the plants as lfs supplier had used it to kill snails
i will try find out stocking level memories awful ..lol
guessing i had 5 glowlight teras,2 peppered corydoras,5 male guppies ,5 neons,4 otos ,1 amano shrimp,1 bumble bee shrimp ,1 cherry shrimp
which i was told i was at my limit i lost a few at start as got otos too early etc ..but after that was fine .
