As I moved my acans up they have dropped some colour I think the lighting is to intense for them being up high so I'll have to remove them from up high and put them all on the sand bed and drop the white channel down a bit to get there colours to return as they all turn red when to much light and a tank full of just red acans would not be very appealing

I have now moved them to the sandbed and dropped the white channel % a bit to see if that helps bring the colours back

What I don't understand all too well is why there isn't a light (or, lights) that replicate daylight near perfectly ... My confusion starts when you see images and videos of coral reefs in the sea and they're not intensely blue lit from the sky yet they thrive without much issue. Is it an aesthetic thing? Surely there must be a light that allows the true colours of the coral to show rather than being bright blue. I mean, it looks cool an' all and I can respect the time, effort and monetary value of all things marine yet the lighting lets it down a lot with me

It's all to do with light spectrums K ratings and different colours produce different K ratings here is some reading for you

Forgive me if im mis-reading but the colour of the blue in the sky is caused by the reflection of light off the ocean? Not the other way about. Otherwise i have no idea why theres normally a blue tinge to marines

The above links explain it's the wavelength that's used to bring colour out and there is also some other colours in that range our eyes can't see

Acans are also loving being on the sand bed and are puffing up a lot more







I have a load of bare space on the rocks now so maybe more SPS needed to fill those gaps.

The moorish idol has sadly been removed come home from work to see some acans clamped up and a few heads with the middles eaten.

I made a cuppa and sat back and watched and see it going down munching on them so 45 minutes later it was in the net that took some catching.

Least it now feeds on everything so hopefully it goes to a good home as it was a stunning fish but I just could not risk it turning all my acans into lunch

Sad to see it go but it is for the best in regards to the rest of your tank

I don't know yet I may do I have a few fish left on the wanted list I'm waiting for then to turn up

I was gutted it had to go but it meant that most of my corals where no longer safe and could of potentially ate £££££ worth luckily only damaged a few heads that will hopefully grow back.
