Fluval Roma 200 Tank and Cabinet - needs foam under tank ?
« on: July 30, 2016, 08:34:14 pm »
Hi folks,

I just bought this tank and was wondering if anyone else has one and could advise if the tank needs some kinds of foam type mat under it between the tank and the base. Generally I put something under my tanks but is it needed for this setup please ?

Many thanks.

A base of something foamy or like polystyrene should always be used to cushion any imperfections in the cabinet. Otherwise you risk cracking the glass under the extreme weight.

Yep that's the conclusion I came to as well, so I ordered a foam mat. Thanks :)

If the cabinet is the fluval one designed for that tank you shouldn't need anything under the tank. (I don't have anything under my roma 240, which is on the specific fluval stand for it, It been setup for just under a year now and I haven't had any problems)

Yeah it certainly won't do any harm to put something there

I also have nothing between my Roma 200 and Fluval cabinet. It actually says in the documents you get with the tank not to use anything for whatever reason and goes as far as to say warren you etc will be void.

    Just something to consider  *grin*

Just updated and added a pic for you - if you just ordered guessing you won't have the manual but took a pic of the relevant bit for you. (Hopefully it can be seen clearly)

Don't use a lining, the cabinet is built for the tank and anything else can damage both the tank and cabinet.
Sent from my PC as I still don't understand the the logic for mobile internet usage ;) *grin*

SJT Thanks a lot for the photo, yes I could see the bit you mean.

Good job I asked. I'll just return the mat I ordered.

    Many thanks all.

I'm interested in why putting something between the two would damage the tank / cabinet, Anyone know?
