Where can I buy and refill CO2 canisters?
« on: January 08, 2017, 12:16:59 am »
Hi everyone,

I'm looking to get into pressurised co2 injection. I understand the basic concept and all of the kit, but I just haven't actually seen any of my local fish stores selling pressurised co2 canisters of any decent size. I picked up an Aqua One nano co2 kit today but judging from the size of the canister, it'll be used up in about a week. It also doesn't have a solenoid so it won't turn itself off at night!

Where sells and refills co2 canisters? I haven't even seen any for sale online unless you count co2 fire extinguishers...

I live in the East Anglian area.

Thanks.

Well if you're anywhere near Ipswich, Fire Power on Foxhall Road sell co2, 6.5kg costs £20 full and £10 for a refill. If you aren't near Ipswich, then try your local Fire Services Store (not fire station).

Wow that's cheap cheap. The local to me (Oxfordshire) wants £70 for the FE and £43 for refill for 5kg. Cheapest I've found USB using Adams Gas online and finding local stockist. I am thinking of going for 15kg as that's should last about a year then without worry.

That is fair enough, I am yet to find anyone in Oxfordshire who will sell and FE or CO2 bottle of over 6.35kg for less than £70 and a refill appears to be around £20 for a bottle that size from almost everyone.

Can someone clear up this issue?
Steadier, Malaysian or Asian. What's the difference?
Reading conflicting info on German discus are better suited to hard water and Asian discus are immune to certain parasites that can wipe out other strains.
Is the difference just where they come from or does potential size and colour varieties vary?
