Returning to the hobby!
« on: April 20, 2017, 08:59:52 pm »
Hello everyone!  *2116*

I've kept fish for almost a decade now, since I was about 12. I have 4 tanks running at the moment but at the height of my obsession I had 7. With uni studies (and lack of funds) I really struggled to maintain both my tanks and my enthusiasm. But in the last few months I've found that spark returning and I'm eager to get back into the hobby.

I've been stalking the forums for a couple of weeks now and I only really joined up today because I suspect my betta has fin rot. Having posted about that, I thought I'd introduce myself here and share something more positive.

My current tanks are:

10g tank containing 1 doubletail betta, Percy, and a couple of amano shrimp, Tom and Jerry.
45g containing 6 julii cories, 6 bleeding heart tetras, and 1 male angelfish, Romeo, (who lost his mate, Juliet, this year - on Valentine's day of all days. They had been together for 7 years :()
27g containing 1 rainbow crab, Claude; his posse of 6 guppies; and 2 amano shrimp who are currently nameless.
75g containing 12 tiger barbs, 6 harlequin rasbora, and 1 female albino bristlenose named Evie.

I'm exceptionally bad at taking fish photos, but I've attached pics of Claude and Romeo. They're both quite a bit older now but I don't think they've changed too much.

I'm really excited to be getting back into the hobby and to be sharing it with you guys!

Nat

    Thank you guys!

Claude is pretty small still. He's about 5cm across the carapace and probably 10 cm across including his legs. Next time he moults I'll try to get a proper measurement before he gobbles the shell up.

He's grown a bit since that picture was taken. I think it's been almost a year and he's moulted twice so his colour is starting to fade a bit with age. He's still a handsome young fellow. I managed to get another pic yesterday to show how he's changed.
