also cant find what flow rate i need to use ?????

    They work like Matrix or Siporax (or live rock in a marine tank). Basically you need a slow enough flow rate so that you get anoxic conditions in the media, which then allows the nitrate reducing type of bacteria to grow.

    Note the bit in the description "Denitrification relies on adequate organic carbon availability" , in my reef tank, carbon is limiting, so vinegar is added to the tank as a source of carbon. Not sure if that would work in FW..?

    Regards flow rate, in the description it says "a flow-through rate of 1 - 3x the total aquarium volume per hour is recommended." ;)
