Albino Polypterus Senegalus
« on: April 23, 2017, 08:17:05 pm »
So I saw these fish in my lfs and decided I had to have 1 so talked with the owner to check compatibility with other fish and what water it likes best ect. After hearing that it is a "prehistoric " fish I had to have it. After getting home I did abit of reading up on it and it seems fine with my fish as I don't really have any fish small enough to fit in its mouth. I am still abit worried that he will eat something in the night though so will have to check in the morning.  Had to post about it as it's one of my favourite fish already and I've only had it a matter of hours

I tried to get some pics but he likes hiding will try next time it's feeding time. I've got a 4ft 180 litre was told that was more than big enough by manager at lfs and some online research said anything 90 ltr plus is adequate.

90l?????!!!!! for a 2' fish!!!! What is he on about?????? Birchirs aren't usually small...............
4' is about the smallest I would recommend, bigger if possible. They have to be able to manoeuvre around the tank.

He's only small atm about 5cm and I'm already planning a 6ft tank so when I get that all set up and ready to go I can transfer him over hopefully before he turns into a prehistoric monster. Still trying to get a pic but cause he is nocturnal he is well hiden when I have lights on .

Seriouslyfish recommends min of 5 foot tank with plenty of floor area to move in. Can be known to make escape bids, good fitting lid required.
