Hello again....
Sorry to hear of your marine woes. :(

But with the 160L tank being in the kitchen and on tiled floor (rest of the house is carpet bar the 3 bathrooms) this would make it a lot easier to grow discus out in and more representative of the environment they are likely to grow up in. With the frequent water changes the kitchen is ideal and because my house can get quite busy, getting the discus us to that in the kitchen as opposed to hiding them away in the calm of my office would probably make more sense.
I didn't realise that discus had kitchens with tiled floors in the wild..... ;) *giggle*
Look forward to pics :)

They are very sophisticated fish and require these sorts of amenities. It states this on every single care guide out on the Web Haha

On a serious note,  the discus growing tank will be bare bottom despite how much I dislike bare bottom tanks

    Mondays still the weekend right???

Even more bad luck, HTPC (home theatre PC) which I do all media on broke (not the first time either). All the data is still intact as I use a slave drive for storage and was the boot drive/ OS that broke. I slavaged any good components and added them to my big PC upstairs and now have 20m of HDMI connecting it to the lounge pc. On a side note, I am planning on doing a NAS system with the remaining system and a dual boot win7/hackintosh on my big PC. If people are interested in that I can post updates here or on a separate thread, let me know.

Back to point, a few pictures and more to come.

I thought it might be a good one, as I've never got good pics of angels or tetras with a P&S. :)

I just typed up a tank log update, came to just shy of 1000 words!!! I always have way too much to say. This got me thinking about whether to do video updates/vlogs and post them on here, what do you guys think? I am also very tempted in doing a time-lapse video of a new tank setup.

Pictures will be coming later today!

Agreed, the camera isn't everything, it is just a good start. For those that are interested I have two lenses for my Nikon D5200. The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f3.5/5.6G VR for every day use. The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 35mm f/1.8G which I find very good for low light and my go to lens, at the moment, for photographing fish.

Any thoughts on video updates instead? Does anyone do them on here?

    Photo update time.

160L - Can't put many plants in here, the RTBS digs them up or charges them to death.

    The 30L -

No the photo below, petsathome had a tank of about 30 of these bettas (advertised as females). My friend (new to the hobby) bought two and they just continuously fought. I took them both of hers hands temporarily. Looking at them closer they look to me to be males. I went into petsathome and looked at the tank, they were all fighting and didn't look in the best of health. What do you think, male or female?

    80L -

Plants - 5x dwarf hair grass, 5x hemianthus callitrichoides, 2x hydrophilic, 1x polygonum red and 1x aponogeton iongiplumulosus. Big thanks to aquarium gardens for the delivery  thumbsup

Teaser for my next tank -

The betta does look like a female, but there is always the chance that males have been missed at this age.
Females are still feisty and need a group of at least 5 to spread the aggression.

Tank arrived, still waiting for a better light and substrate. It is the Fluval Spec V (19L).

Filtration and managed to get a heater to fit in.

The light that I will be replacing, read that is was okay for low light plants.

It all put together, look very neat  *applause*

Sponge filter the water trickles down. top compartment for carbon, bottom for ceramic media.

Threw the ceramic media on top of an air bar in the 160L to try and get some of that good bacteria on it.
