thought I'd do a Sticky for moss links or 'Bryophytes' as they are known Scientifically. I love Moss, I think we all do :D and they can lend themselves to aquascaping in so many ways. They can depict the Leaves of a tree, a moss covered wall, tuffs of grass and rolling hills, giving our aquascapes scale, colour and realism.

I don't think most of us realize just how many types of moss their are in the world today, and there is certainly many many more to be discovered and cultured in our aquariums.

So lets pool all of our knowledge and keep this 'STICKY' as a guide to all things MOSS :D

google search terms I have used to good effect are: 'Dr Benito Tan' 'byrophyte' 'byrological'

Dr Benito Tan is the man when it comes to mosses :bow down smiley:

Brilliant sticky with some top links , i have spent hours reading the one aquaticquotient forum , especially the bits relating to EL NATURAL style of no nonsence planted aquariums . most cases no filter no co2 , and amazing plans and landscaping basically using household pot plant soil , has really got me thing this is something i'd real like to try , has anyone else read through this stuff???

I really want to grow moss! I have ordered some plants to put in my tanks but I have read about CO2, fertalizer etc and there was to much info to take it all in!

Do you need any of that stuff for moss?

The plants that are on their way are- Elodea Densa & Java fern.

Any info about care for any of them would be much appreciated!

(I was going to grow the moss in a tank just for the moss)

There is a lot of moss on ebay just type in aquarium moss got all sorts on there, its where l buy mine from and most of uk. Just to point out l fell in love with the star moss its from taiwan, but its not a true aquatic and will not survive to long fully submerged. But it is beautiful.
