Brown Marks?
« on: August 18, 2014, 11:09:28 pm »
I have just noticed some brown marks/spots on the underside of some of the loaches.  They are around the gill area but on the underside rather than the gills themselves. I have attached some pics but they aren't especially clear.  Anyone know what these might be and if they are anything to worry about?

I fed them prawns yesterday and they got quite excited.  I am 99% sure these spots weren't there yesterday as I would have noticed while watching them eat.  The only thing out of the ordinary was that I noticed one of the loaches had his spines out once or twice while feeding.  I don't know if these marks could be caused by been nicked by another fish - they don't appear to be cuts or anything though, more like colouration.  There is some cucumber and apple in the tank weighed down with a spoon since last night but other than that nothing new in the tank.

I did try to post this just now and had to type it again due to the pics not uploading so apologies if it somehow appears twice...

They look ok to me. :) Mine have different markings every time I see them. If they were a bit excited they may have caught each other with their "beaks", but I don't think so. Don't feed shrimp and prawns too often, that must be a treat.

    Thanks :-)

Think I've only fed the prawns twice, about once a week or is that still too often?

I feed every few months, certainly not weekly.
