Abacus Aquatics
« on: September 27, 2014, 10:25:47 pm »
I have been meaning to take a trip across London to visit Abacus in Sidcup for a while - it always seems to do well in the PFK polls and I can really see why.

They have tropical, marine and cold water but to be honest, there are only token marines and cold water but the tropical stock is pretty amazing.  There were no sick looking fish, they all looked great and the fish themselves were in some cases quite unusual - some that I have never seen before!  It was with genuine excitement that I looked at each tank to see what was inside.

I saw some "Orange Lemon Tetras" that had orange fins instead of the black ones.  Loads of different Corydoras including Robustus, "Narcissus Variant II", CW51, Haraldschultzi and green lasers to name a few.  Other interesting (for me) fish included Betta Channoides, Aborichthys Elongatus, Oryzias Wowarae and Eirmotus Octozona.

It was well worth the 3 hour round trip and I came away with a new Crypt

Now this puts a lot of other shops to shame when it comes to the health of the fish and selection of fish they have. Very nice staff, who are very helpful, best looking bloodworms I have bought ever. Has some rare stuff in, every time I visit.

There’s always something new to learn
