New Filter
« on: December 02, 2014, 07:07:46 pm »
Hi guys and girls I need a new filter for my tank did ask last week but no one said anything. I'm getting it next week when I get money as my stingray has eaten up one of my neons today. I got a 60L tank I'm thinking of getting the Fluval U2 so checking is it okay for my tank and fish? Or can you suggest anything????

By stingray i hope you mean filter not fish in that tank.....joking, but it wouldnt suprise me with some folk lol.

I have a U1 and i think its the worst filter ever, very little media size, blocks easy and needs cleaning every couple of weeks. I cant see the U2 being much different just a big bigger capacity.

cant suggest any others, but cant all be that bad.

I have an Eheim Pick Up 160 2010 (I will be able to confirm tomorrow), I had this in the tank for about a week whilst I waited for a part for my Eheim 2213 so its practically brand new. Still boxed with instruction etc. I paid £25 I would let it go for £20 if you wanted it.

    Here is the spec:

Back Ahlad's question lol. In my opinion I recommend Eheim but I have to say I haven't used anything else. Went from under gravel straight to the 2213 about 15yrs+ ago. I then bought another larger one for another tank and still have that too in perfect working order. 2 external and the internal I've mentioned. No problems with them apart from me breaking the impeller shaft in the 2213. The good thing is parts are readily available too.

I was a bit shocked about the quality of the U1 also, Fluval known to be half decent aswell, i got it before i looked at reviews on it, and a lot say the same on the cleaning, and also the impeller getting jammed if not carefull when filling the canister.

Theres lots more out there, the Interpet have good/better read ups, but if you can Eheim i would, best quality all around from what is said.

I've used a U2 in the past. You just have to leave out the polypad and turn the media every week during the water change and it functions adequately, but it is a lot of faffing about.
Sent from my PC as I still don't understand the the logic for mobile internet usage ;) *grin*
