The thing is, the thermometer didn't show above 26C.....it wasn't until I used the one on the TDS meter that I sussed it......I then realised it was making a strange noise that I'd originally thought was the clowns clicking..... *rolleyes*
Is the thermometer built into the heater, or did both the heater and the thermometer fail? If both failed that's some seriously bad luck.

A faulty heater is a great concern of mine. You can eliminate the potential damage of one dying simply by buying two, but there's really no way to stop one from heating the tank up if it develops the right fault. And buying two, to eliminate the damage of a temperature drop, increases the chance of a fault leading to a temperature rise!

It's a real shame, but there really wasn't anything you could have done.

I may have sussed the problem.
Another stuck thermostat on a heater.
Funny, as this has lasted much longer than the original Juwel one, and yet I've never had a problem with the other tanks.
The other two loaches have responded well to water changes.
I'll get a new heater tomorrow, if the traffic isn't too bad.
    It's a madhouse today!
That's a shame plankton. What was the tank reading out if interest.

No idea, I've thrown the box away, and it it isn't written on the pen. It's a blue one from Amazon though... *grin*

If you mean the temp, 32C.....that's why the tetras weren't affected.
The thermometer obviously works up to 26C, as it's gone down to showing 22C without a heater..... *rolleyes*
Sent from my PC as I still don't understand the the logic for mobile internet usage ;) *grin*
