Move to a different, softer part of the country where water is softer. My GH is pretty much in the middle, so I can't keep many softwater fish (like GBRs) and can't keep things like African cichlids either lol

I would be more patient. I gave up my bigger (240l I think) tank moving house but now the furnitures moved around I now have room for it.

I've always wanted to do 4 tanks.  South American, Asian, Malawi and a decent Betta tank. But the smaller tanks and rushing in as soon as the tanks ready impulse buying has always left me with not what I was planning.

I wish I never let my wife have a say in anything we bought. And did everything myself. She's give me permission to do what I want now, but got to wait until we move house.

Haha no I talked her out of most fish choices, she wanted a shark, a betta, dwarf gourami, golden rams, an African cichlid (don't know which type it was), an angelfish and guppys all in the one 64ltr tank.......even though I've explained why that is bad stocking, she would still probably try it if no one stopped her :/ I rushed purchases so I could get stuff while she still said yes, I.e. 64ltr fish box instead of a 20 gal rimless etc. Now she says can we sell the other tank and get a nicer one...*arrrgggh* lol.

After moving 3 times in 2 years I'm over my big tanks so nothing over 4ft when I finally settle in the new place.

    For me, just general experience.

I started with a 60l tank, fish-in-cycle due to lfs advice, and had 10 Danios, 5 mollys, a Betta and 2 BN's in there.

Soley due to the advice on this forum, my upgraded tank is much more of a "fun" hobby; Planted, 2 filters, co2 setup, decent stock levels and the deaths / issues I have had have been a learning curve using advice from here and treatable.

Although, I do kind of wish i'd gone for a 240l instead of a 180l but the size of the lounge just wouldn't cater for it, so it's all good :)
