Marty's salty side tank log
« on: February 19, 2015, 06:55:31 pm »
I thought it would be best to start a new log for the salty side.

So I closed down the tropical and cleaned the system here is some pics of it stripped and cleaned.

Next was to clean the corral sand and get that into the tank.

Now to fill with salted RO water will take a while to clear but will get there

Skimmer will not be here till around next Friday and ill be collecting a load of live rock this Sunday ill update as I go :)

Display tank is 6x2x2 and the sump is 50" x 18" x 17" so plenty of room :)

What lighting are you using? T5's changed to 10k's and blue tubes or LED?

http://www.zetlight.com/index.php thats the company, this is the one im using, will easily do a 2 foot, The bigger *Aqua* series one is good for something like a 3 foot, so 3 of them on your tank would probs do it. Not sure on the price of the bigger ones, but this smaller one was £80 ( give or take a few quid ) Oh and you can get a controller unit for them to do sunrise, sunset, storms, tweak the colours/brightness of the lights etc etc :)

Only thing with my tank is it has euro bracing so has a piece of glass across centre so 2 x 2ft would be ideal :)

    A little update.

The bloke that was shutting his tank down called today to ask if I could collect so off I went to collect the live rock.

The sump has the smaller bits of rock in I will however have to buy some more rock for the sump and display tank but it's a start :)

Any aptasia I found has been zapped with aptasia X

There is a few clean up crew that was amongst the rocks a massive hermit crab and a couple of corrals that I could not get off the rocks so hopefully they will be ok here is the pictures excuse the cloudy water as that's not upto my normal standard but it's only been running 24 hours :)
