Hi Guys,
As a few of you have pointed out recently, I needed a bigger tank.
I found myself a [very] used 3" x 18' x 1" tank on GumTree and after four hours of cleaning, it's like new.
It came with a lid and condensation shields, but the lid has been used for tubes that are far too hot for the lid itself to hand.
It's all burned and misshapen and I'd like to replace it.
My plan was to get rid of the LED clip on/bendy lights and get this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/5M-300-LED-Strip-Light-3528-5050-SMD-RGB-Ribbon-Tape-Roll-Waterproof-IP65-12V-UK-/350871703543?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&var=&hash=item51b1954ff7
.
I use them often for ambient lighting and computer lighting etc, they are very reliable and good quality.
What I plan to do is get a new lid and silicone the strip in a spiral from the outer to the inner. 5M seems a lot, but its only really like 5 horizontal LED strips. The brightness is adjustable via remote, as is colour. I think it'll work well with some reflective tape on the inside too as the light has nowhere to escape. In addition to this I've finely keyed my acrylic condensation shields with sandpaper, so they're slightly foggy, to diffuse the light.
Feel free to borrow the idea haha. If anyone has a new tank lid at a good price (they cant be new much can they? They're only moulded plastic or stamped aluminium)
Many thanks.

Thanks for that. Any clue on how much they might be? I can't find prices anywhere.
I just need to know before I commit. I'll sooner make my own than shell out, you see.

I can't remember, I think my smaller one was about £4, so I would image about £7.50??
