back again more nipping going on so another enquirer about my hillstream loach had it for a while now and i noticed it nipping at one of my corys a fue times but then the loach moved and then nipped a different one. this is first time i have noticed it is there any reason why it could be nipping the corys. i also added some new decor and moved some stones about the other day

fot i would add the cory got stressed and started swimming all over the place

the loach is currently in a small hatchery at top of tank so that it cant nip them

What are you feeding? It sounds as though you've either been very unlucky and got an aggressive HSL or the diet's wrong.

day one: algie wafers shrimp pellet and flake
day two: bloodworm

then back to day one so it is a mix

ok doke is there any chance of him causing any harm to the other fish and is there anyway of calming him down cause not wanting to move or get ride of the little guy (cause the other half wouldnt be pleased) and also i dont want to buy then get ride of him if you get what i mean

ok thanks for the help by reading that it says that there is a seldom chance of casuing damage which i am glad for but the poor we cory was going crazy in the spot and then breaving really heavy do you think that could cause any problems like stress and infection of some kind

also see casue the cory has the barbels are they only used for when something is trying to eat it or can they be used for defense 

oh and ano i am a pain in the butt plankton so i hope all these posts i am doing is not driving you crazy

Corys don't have scales, but a sort of "plating" to protect them. They also release a toxin to put attackers off. The barbels are just for rummaging in the sand.
It'll just be upset for a bit, but they are pretty strong physically.

To calm the hillie buy another 3. They do like to be in groups of 4 plus

Too late to help the OP I imagine but thought I'd share my experience.

I have two HSL's in my tank. There are four corys and a few tetras etc. I have never know the HSL's to show any interest in another species. At feeding time the are happy to bump into and around the corys trying to get flakes on the substrate without squabbling. The only interaction is between the HSL's themselves. They have calmed down over recent months but it was previously not uncommon to see them doing their fight/dance. They don't seem capable of causing injury so I've always let them get on with it. All they are really doing is causing a scene. I don't know what sex they are and no spawning has ever taken place so assume they are both either males or females being territorial.
