like the idea of the filtration coming through the bottom of the tank nice idea from fluval
I initially thought it was a great idea but now not so sure.

    1. The inlet and outlet are next to each other, it would be better at opposite ends (saying that the Easy-Connect system would not be so easy).
    2. The fluval tanks are imperial measurements whilst in UK (and Europe) almost everything is metric.
    3. It is not easy to convert the outlet for a spray bar, I had to do some d.i.y to get my spray bar running. It is not easy to cap the outlet when the tank is full although Fluval do provide the caps with the tank.
    4. The Fluval 306 is a great filter but not good enough for a well stocked tank, the 406 is a better option. If only Fluval made the 406 an optional upgrade before the initial purchase (say an extra £25).

The Roma 240 is a nice tank nevertheless.
Look after your fish and the water, do regular water changes & maintenance, do your research and the hobby will be rewarding.
    All the best

I find fluval on all there tanks could do with offering the next size up filter.

For example my 125 should've come with a u4 or external I think.

Have to admit the 306 does the job but I have considered upgrading to a 406.

there must be a reason they come up with this way of filtration as they dont just stuck a filter in lol

I would imagine it's took months of research and design because you could email there with the design faults

I've tried to angle the outlets to try maximise the efficiency, one up to the surface to create some disturbance at the surface, which is pointing down the length of the tank, the other down towards the front of the tank. In theory this should create a downward circulation towards the inlet, I'm not certain that's what will happen but should in my own head lol

I have one outlet facing down the length of the tank at the back and the other facing the glass at the front  :-)

That's what I did with mine when I had my 306, and it worked very well :)

    Looking good  thumbsup

As for the filtration set up (I have the same tank), I found circulation not to be great at the far end of the tank.  I have subsequently added an internal (Fluval U2) and Eheim powerhead in front of the stock filtration.  If you are thinking of planting you will definitely need some further circulation.  As someone mentioned above, there is no spray bar specifically designed for the tank, I cannot fathom out why Hagen decided not to design one, but there are ways of making one yourself should that be the route you desire :)

Decided I need to move the wood down to around 1/3 of the tank, so pretty much where the door ends roughly.. Then do the same down the left side when I get more wood which should create boundaries for the 2 sets of rams I plan to add

Our little South American friends love loads of wood, or at least, mine do. I think you are going to be dreaming tank scapes for the next few nights! The plans are sounding really good so far *applause*
