Noted for the future, I was unwear about the water hardness, he has been fine till now grown over 4in within 9 months and had a really nice electric blue colour we moved here 4 months ago from Cornwall as the fish took it very well. My concern was he had what looked like burns on his skin if u look at the photo I will post one of him last week that I took

He was a beautiful fish.
Is that the tail of an opaline gourami I see?
There are South American cichlids that will do well in your water.
They are generally a soft water species unlike the African lake cichlids which require hard water.
Hope it helps
Good Luck!

No that is a jack Dempsey tail, also have an Oscar, pleco, rainbow cichlid, I will be looking for a new fish to replace it in the near future once the tank is sorted but unsure what to put in with the fish I got, I will look into the American cichlid

Jack Dempsey, the Oscar and Rainbow cichlid are South American cichlids.

I'll guess that the reason they're dying suddenly is either that there has been something disturbed, or that the cichlids have been fighting over new territories after the move.

Like I said before I think he might of got stuck benide the heater and got burnt as he had patches on him on his head and gills, I will agree with Steven that it properly was a nirate spike from not washing the gravel, levels are correct now and ph is a little low at the moment, so my guess is he got burn and the spike finished him off, and there are no other signs of injuries cause but other fish, and when I tested the levels this morning they were high
