Ha ha - has anyone had any experience of the LED strip lights you see on ebay when you search?

Ok. I am looking to do this tank as cheap as possible as it may not stay if the other half gets his way.
If I dont keep it - will sell it on as a full set up

If it's only temporary, have you got a reading light you can use while you change everything over? That way you're not forking out anything except a heater......

LED lighting is currently far more expensive (for a given light output) than fluorescent, so probably not an option if you are keeping costs down..

Not missing anything. It just wont be ANYWHERE near as bright as a fluoro for similar money.
