I would add to that list:

Clever fish keepers learn from their mistakes.
Really clever fish keepers learn from the mistakes of others.

That's why I still post in forums, because over the last 40+ years I've probably made every mistake possible in fish keeping terms and it would be nice if I can help others to avoid doing the same.
Just because you can do something, doesn't make it the right thing to do.

Great information! I changed my filters way too early ( some bad advice) has set me back quite a bit. Think my tank will be cycling forever. Also was advised Platys was good to have while tank is cycling.  They are doing OK so far.

I wish i had this advice when i first started out as i made quite a few mistakes an lost quite  a few fish, it gets to the stage where you become disheartened, i kept tropical fish years ago, but now its changed so much with all the different chemicals you have to put it. I decided to keep tropical fish again as i find it therapeutic, i suffer with chronic back pain and when i,m in real bad pain which is everyday, i sit there and just watch the fish swim around.... i have a small hexagon tank in my room with Danios, Odessa  an Cherry barbs then i have a small tank with bala sharks red and albino finned an fire-mouthed ciclids. then in my biggest  tank i have a mixture. My favorite are my blind cave fish and then these roe man rainbow fish half orange and blue... i am just about to buy my last tank a 6ft which has everything in at a reasonable price to good to miss....

oh an i love bumble bee platys been scouring for the last few months to see where i can buy them an finally found a shop.

Can someone tell me is it easy to breed roeman rainbow fish an how can you tell males from females?

I am completly new to tropical fish. I have browsed the internet for advice and this forum and found more advice on here. We bought a 95l tank for my son and daughter. We are in pur 3rd day of fishless cycling. We have added solution to dechlorinate our water. We have also added friendly bacteria solution for 3 days now. Recently bought a glass thermometer to get an accurate reading. If there is anything I have forgotten at this stage please let me know.

I have noticed today that my water is starting to go slightly cloudy. There are no fish in it, I've treated the water to get rid of chlorine and added a solution with the good bacteria in it. Is this normal this early???
