Juwel Vision 180
« on: June 13, 2016, 05:10:01 pm »
Time to start a couple of logs of my tanks here.

This one is of my Juwel Vision 180, which was intended to just hold Golden Barbs but due to various rescue efforts has ended up with 12 Golden Barbs, 8 Five-banded barbs, 5 Bronze Cories and a Flying Fox.

It is a temperate tank with a heater set to 22C (just in case), an internal Juwel filter, as well as a Tetra Ex 800 Plus external filter.

Décor is quite simple - some bogwood and coconut shells and easy to grow plants (no fertilizisation apart from when it was first set up to give the plants something to feed on).

Well spotted. The danios have since been rehomed. When I started out with just the Golden Barbs they were so skittish, even in a large groups. So I got the danios to help them settle and that really worked.

It was only later that the five-banded barbs, the cories and the flying fox joined so I decided to move the danios on. They are now in a larger tank with more danios.

    Thanks all.

I've toyed with the idea of a barb tank for sometime so really happy this one has materialised. I love their colour, their interaction at breeding time (mental!) and so greedy at feeding time but very entertaining to watch.

This, sadly, is my last update on this thread as I sold this tank last Sunday.

Now that the country has decided to leave the EU I am contemplating where my future lies. Not only do I not know what my status, as an EU national, is going to be in the UK but I am also not sure whether I want to stay in a country that has decided to go against everything I believe in.
Various options I am contemplating invariably involve moving long distances so moving the fish and acclimatising them to new water conditions would have been very awkward, to say the least.

With this in mind I put my tanks up for sale, expecting it to take a few months or so before anything might come of it but then this tank went very quickly, quicker than expected.
I am still left with the Fluval Roma 90 for now, though about half of the fish have also already been rehomed, which keeps me going but will also be sold.

My main concern is the welfare of the living beings so rehoming the fish locally has been my priority and I am glad this has happened. Other things can be sorted out later, given away etc.

Thank you to everyone for reading my postings, for putting up with my lack of photography skills, for sticking with me through the changes/ downsizing/restarting etc, for all your kind and encouraging comments. I will not be completely gone, just perhaps a little quieter than I would have been otherwise.

    Sorry to hear that :(
It is a shame what has come out of this referendum. Hope what ever you decide to do you keep us posted on your fishy habits should they continue wherever you decide to go.

So sad to hear you sold your tank, sorry.

Hopefully law abiding, hard working EU nationals who contribute to the UK will be allowed to stay.
