hi guys, this is about my new internal filter i bought yesterday (22/4/11).
The filter I bought is an Aqua One Maxi 104f internal.
http://www.cdaquatics.co.uk/aqua-one-maxi-104f-internal-aquarium-filter-p-2119.html
Basically i set out to get a internal filter for my tank when i knew it was under filtered because any dirt was just sinking to the bottom and not moving, also one of my clown loach died.
I phoned my local garden centre and asked what internals they had suitable for my Rio 180, the guy said they had a Eheim AquaBall or something like that for £49.99. Off i went to the shop and had a quick look at what internals they had when i saw the Aqua One for £27.95, i thought ideal I'm going to save a tenner.
I went home and immediately stripped the filter down to see how it worked, two coarse sponge were all it had inside and a large propeller. In the box it had a spray bar, venturi and nozzle attachments.
I then put it in my tank and plugged it in, wow it was extremely powerful lifting my plants from the gravel but it was so noisy, louder than my noisy air pump. The sections of the pump fitted poorly so there were gaps all over.
I'm now thinking of siliconing the gaps up to help the filtration or putting it in my old Juwel filter box to maybe reduce the noise.
All in all a very powerful but extremely noisy filter.
