Lovely.  Always smile when I see Otos.

I'm seeing a lot more of mine after adding the Nerite Snails.   Nerites have polished the back of the tank where the Otos usually stay so theyve moved out on to the plants for a munch.

Not as good as the pics above  (I need to get myself a camera!)

    But some of mine.

    The smallest skinniest one

And how I used to see my otos  prenerite era (though they are still hanging out in the same spot most of the time)

Theres actually 7 Otos in that tiny area but you can only partially see 3 and thats been most of my oto experience in 11 years of keeping them.

Don't exactly know Ian. Vittatus or Affinis I think.

Theyre great James.   I got one just to see how it got on in my tank.   Didnt last very long   but there was water problems in the area of the fish shop.  Might give them another go in future if I ever have the tank space,  a lot less shy than other ottos

Yeah they can be but luckly for me they like hanging out in the same place. Yeah before i bought them i saw them in the shop for a good month munching on courgette so that won me over. Because ive heard there hard but they love courgette and keep all my plants looking good!

Its not and my tanks are full (hopefully for a long while).

    Thanks for the suggestion!.

Aqualife Leyland has a supply from a breeder in Norway  and Pier Aquatics in Wigan  reguarly get sp.Robocop in if I ever have room for them.

I've had a group of five Giant Otos for about two years now. They're great algae eaters and seem pretty robust. I almost got a photo of them all together but they saw me coming so you'll have to settle for these.

    These are Hypoptopoma cf guianense:
    https://www.planetcatfish.com/common/species.php?species_id=3783
    9 tropical tanks, 1 marine

    Bred:
Cichlids: Dicrossus filamentosus; Pelvicachromis subocellatus 'Moanda'; Biotodoma cupido
Catfish: Ancistrus 'Rio Paraguay'; Panaqolus sp. L397; Pseudolithoxus dumus; Farlowella vittata; Corydoras melini, burgessi, oiapoquensis
    Loaches: Pangio myersi
    Tetras: Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae; Copella meinkeni
