I will admit i spend some time trying to pick the right sort of song for them, and i do have a few favourites from youtubes lists i will also admit i cut about 15seconds off the 100l video so the music suited (it was just weird otherwise lol)
I dont know where my weight goes, there is the suggestion of being ginger and having no soul it tries to fill that hole  (south park reference)

So i noticed some interesting behaviour between Jayne and SJP last night over an algae wafer. Although Jayne drags it off he leaves SJP with it when she has it and just hovers around her until she leaves it, he will have a good go at it then if/when she comes back he leaves it for her again.
However last night Jesse thought he’d get in on the action, which resulted in Jayne chasing him off when he got too close. At one point when Jaynes back was turned Jesses thought he’d peck SJP, which sent her off back to her cove in the wood. Jesse feeling a bit brazen thought he’d fight with Jayne over it until SJP come back down sneakily and lunged at Jesse sending him scarpering with Jayne chasing him just a bit further out of the area, leaving SJP with her wafer and Jayne standing guard over the arch. It’s unusual to watch, but i hope it keeps up, not the fighting but the strange partnership Jayne and SJP seem to have.
Either way heres a video from this evening showing something similar, Jayne obviously doesn’t fancy the courgette, but he still keeps Jesse away from SJP and the general area

And yes SJP (Miss Sarah Jessica Parker, blame my OH) is the pleco, Jayne is the apisto (Firefly reference), and Jesse is the orange plattail with his lil blue buddy.

Wow SJP has an appetite lol, though the way she was devouring that courgette I'm surprised she has eventually gotten off it

Jayne is a male Misty (i promise i wont tell him, it wont help his mood  ). The name comes from a sci-fi show called Firefly (Serenity is the film).
From nose to the start of his tail he’s around 52-53mm (just about 2inches), including the tail (without filaments) hes around 65mm, with filaments he’s over 70mm.
He’s still smaller than his dad (Bubba) in the 180l. Bubba is 57mm nose to start of tail, about 70mm (maybe a bit over) including his tail, but he’s not got the filaments like Jayne.

Haha oops! Well, maybe tell him he should stop being moody so other people don’t mistake him for a female :-P

I just spend time in front of the glass (like my OH does sometimes) pulling stupid faces at them because they react if you puff your cheeks and pop your lips at them its funny, its a threat/challenge if you ever check out male or even females (i’ve seen it more by our females) they flare their gils to make themselves look bigger and more intimidating before charging at their opponent. Males tend to liplock, with their huge mouths it can be nasty and some come away with dislocated or damaged jaws or worse...
But because of the time spent around them they’re quite used to us and always come up to see us, which is handy as we can keep a close eye on their general well being (also means if i’m armed with the tape when they stop i can get a fairly good idea on size [i’m also an engineer by trade so mm is easy ], the platies are impossible lol), the females are a bit harder if they decide to nest somewhere, as they may not come out while protecting eggs. They can be moodier than the males with or without eggs!

It's amazing fish are much smarter than people give them credit for.
Mine come up to greet me too, but with them I think it is more of classical conditioning, as they think they are gonna get fed. And it's hilarious they get overexcited and try to nibble on a syringe when I draw the water for testing (they just can't comprehend why would anyone put non-edible items into the tank lol)
