Will you replace them both Iain, or simply let the inevitable fry take their place etc...?

    Thanks everyone
No were not going to replace them. The fry we have we’re going to keep moving on (have some ready to go now saying that). But we want to bring our stock down to a compatible level so we can upgrade to one big tank (and probably a small one and a QT lol) and get everyone together without any fighting or ending up overrun with fry.

Dont worry wont be for a while yet (could be well over a year!), gotta manage to reduce from 4 tanks to one. Cant put Arnie and Jesse together or they will fight, same for Bubba and Jayne (unless really carefully ‘scaped, which i’m not willing to risk). Then theres the breeding between the male platies, Arnie and Jesse and the female platies...
And then theres sorting the actual tank we’re going to go for *blink* plenty of planning to do!

    Ok so update time.
Everything has been quiet since the recent losses, the tanks all seem quiet, but the stocking is quite low (6 fish in the 180l, 3 in the 100l and 5 in the 54l). It is nice though as everyone seems to have room so they all seem pretty happy :)
On another note after we lost the female apistos and we had the ph rise etc we have also had a bit more algae than usual and the plants havent been as perky, so i’ve had a bit more of a read up of the EI dosing and our water report. As i found out if both micro and macro are dosed at the same time (i always dosed them alternately) creates a compound that cant be used by the plants, so its another element that just sits in the water potentially screwing with the parameters (in my thoughts anyway). Also hard water tends to contain some of the nutrients found in the ferts so they may not need to be added.
So my thoughts have been that there may have been an excess of nutrients which has built up the compound the plants couldnt use, potentially raising the ph (or maybe even the over all TDS), causing the algae. Welcome to my mind!   *grin*
So for the past few weeks I haven’t dose any ferts at all, just added a bit of liquid carbon when i’ve done the water changes to help (hopefully) kill off a bit more of the algae. Let me know what you think.
Anyway if you’ve kept up with that here’s some pics and videos, the 54l is missing as its been rather sunny the algae has built up on the glass a bit quickly. Enjoy :)

    All looking very serene  *grin*

Are you thinking of keeping the fry with the twin bars on the tail?
