New Tank log…

 My new Juwel Rio 125 tank arrives, C/O my LFS Clearwater aquatics here in Leicester. So unpack the cabinet and take up stairs, this one’s going in the Den!  Assemble the Cabinet, very easy and get the tank on there.

Give the gravel a good clean? (but still not really clean) Fill tank using some water from mature tank, set up filter again very easy, adding media from mature filter and heater. Looking quite murky, so add my old Eheim 2213 classic filter.

Tank now looking a lot clearer!  Add rocks and some wood.

Tank looking nice and clear take the Ehiem filter off, do a full water test, all OK, PH a bit high but that’s Leicester water! . Add a couple of India Almond (crushed) leaves.

Change poly pad in filter, it’s looking a bit Ginger. I do not have the poly pad on top, what’s the point of having a fine filter, before a course one?  So it sits between the course and the carbon one.

Peacock Moss arrives from hanssg, so hot glue some to drift wood, for both tanks.

Black Alder cones arrive, so add 20 to the new tank. PH=7.8 Test water in water butt PH=6ish.

Go to LFS and get 6 Rummy nose Tetras and 2 peppered corys and add to tank, Yes they seem happy and are feeding OK, a good sign that things can’t be that bad!

Do a small water change 10%ish. Order some plants from “Plants alive” OK

Do another small water change 10%ish, from water butt.

Plants from plants alive all OK, so plant some in each tank to see which do best in what. Hot glue some Java fern “Windelov” to drift wood.

Go to LFS and get 6 Copper Harlequins, but their very small and only three survive.
