the 1st fish is what walmart sold me as banded gourami, but i looked it up and could not find it.

    looks like a Macropodus opercularis (paradise fish) to me dave, they are from the same family, they breathe air through a labrynth (which is like a simple lung) a pretty hardy fish which likes neutral water of pH 7, hope that helps

    they were the first tropical fish i kept at 7yrs old
