40l isn't really big enough to keep platies, and certainly not mollies in George.
You could try guppies instead. Put some floating plants in for the babies to hide in. AT least 2 females for every male.
55l isn't really big enough for mollies either......they get quite big and need to be able to swim........

Livebearers will breed frequently and give you lots of babies. What are your plans for them? You will be overstocked within a couple of months if keeping them and shops usually wont take them off your hands. Many of us learned the hard way, just trying to save you the heartache.

just a thought for you. I did have mollies and guppies in my community tank which obviously, as livebearers produced fry ( i have since removed the male mollies after reading some scare stories regarding male mollies mating female guppies). Anyway, they were in my community tank together for about a month to 6 weeks and I never removed any fry or had the mothers give birth in a seperate tank or any of that. I now have 12 babies which are a couple of cm long. 12 is a still a large number but much easier to rehome when its needed than the amount you will get using breeding tanks properley. There is probably more guppy fry in there that are still in hiding so the numbers do continue to grow. I know some think it cruel to allow fish the breed and leave the fry to probably be eaten however i see it as nature and also it ensures you get the strongest fish as only the strong will make it to adulthood.
Just thought i'd share that and *good_luck* whatever you do

Oh and remember that once they are pregnant they can give birth once a month for up to 6 months without a male. If they give birth to 20 fry each and you only have a 50% success rate thats 30 fry a month for upto 6 months to rehome. You will probably have more!
Please dont think I am being rude or anything, I just hate to read stories on the net of people having to "flush", whether metophocially or literally, fish that they have no room for.

    take care linzi.

    ps. Dont flush fish :)
