Well, how fasinating.

Totally get how some reacted initially but when you consider the enviroment you have provided is more like a 5/6 bed detached house as opposed to a bedsit I think they are well catered for. And as you say, like for like, better than many others.

Have to say I have most deffo learnt something from this thread.

I am very intrigued about your air pump filter system... how it works, set up etc. Would like to learn more.

Keep the posts coming please.

Loving this project... I read up about these fish living in elephants footprints to escape predators!
Amazing creatures and I'll be following with interest.  *fish* *fish* *fish*

    Hello all,

Nothing much to report, the mangrove I ordered arrived and it's planted at the back of the tank. It hasn't shown any signs of life yet though.

It's basically just an air powered under gravel filter.

I know mangrove doesn't need great light, but is there enough white light in the one you have?
I have found this for making sure they get a good start.....

Cheers for that. My light was marketed as a seedling lamp, it has 2 x red, 2 x blue and one white LED. It's only 5 watts, however. If it doesn't live I think I'll forget the mangrove idea, it would probably take something like 5 years to look decent anyway.
