Ottos in 60 litre

Evening all. I’d like some ottos in my 60 litre biorb life 60. The tank has an external filter running and I also have a single sponge bubble filter which I am going to add soon. The tank has 15 espie rasbora at the moment. The only issue I think I have with the tank is flow / circulation around the bottom of the tank. That’s one reason I intend to fit the sponge filter in place of the air stone. I’d like some ottos but is the floor area of the tank big enough for a small group?
I do also intend to re scape the tank with plants and small caves etc

I doubt the floor area is a problem, as I've had otos for 6-8 months now and I never see them on the floor. They spend most time on Echinodorus leaves or the aquarium glass with a brief foray to Anubias leaves, I've never seen them go into a cave, even when first introduced.

People say they forage on dead leaves (oak, beech, IAL, etc) but mine don't so maybe different species have diff behaviours.

Would they eat left over door from the rasbora? Flakes etc sink to the bottom and unlike my larger tank where the other fish would swim down and eat it, the espei’s don’t in the 60 litre

Ottos need algae to eat for the first few days of putting them in the tank. They may eat fish flakes but really they should be eating algae wafers and algae itself as they have bacteria inside them to help them digest food, if they don't have the right food then the bacteria may die causing harm to the otto. Make sure to have a good bit of algae before you put them into the tank.

Don't get fish to solve a problem.

If food is going past the current fish. Change brand to a smaller granual type food and feed much less.

You should do this anyway even if you get ottos.

What's your water like Robbo - hard or soft.
Most, around 95%, of otos are wild caught from softwater rivers in S.America, and are fragile.
I will only put them in tanks that already have a good amount of algae.

Water it pretty soft here tbh.
I wasn’t really getting the ottos to solve a problem as such. If they did or was to eat the uneaten food then great but it was more because I like the look of the fish more importantly.

As for algae , the tank has been set up a good while now. Not a great deal of algae to be honest. Maybe I should wait a little while longer
