Orange Blotch Pleco
« on: February 13, 2018, 05:57:11 pm »
Hi guys
Has anyone ever seen one these Pleco's before?
I have never seen one of these fish before and had to have one as soon as I saw them, so I grabbed one of these guys and I have him in a tank with what was called a White spot pleco they are so tiny just now just over an inch long but they do bump into each other now and again and they will scoot around the tank chasing each other then they will go on their own way doing a great job of keeping the tank clean. I hope this is more of a play fighting thing than an aggressive thing.
Let me know if you have these fish and what's the best way to take care of them.

It looks like a marble bristlenose pleco too me but I'm not an expert so I might be wrong. If it is it a just a coloured variant of a normal one

It definitely is a Calico/marble BN, and the other one is very possibly a common BN.

    Hi guys
Do the bristles grow on them as they get older?
I cant see any sign of bristles on them just now.

Yes the females get some growing from the lips, and the males get them on the lips and up over the nose. At an inch long it will be some time before they start to grow.

I have one in my 30 gallon , he's definitely the boss in there lol. I got mine from Maidenhead aquatics , he was labeled up as an orange marble Bristlenose plec.
I'll be separating him to soon as hes/she is getting too big for his/her boots ..I'll put him in the 45 gallon.
