Lemon Plec - Sudden Change In Behaviour
« on: March 16, 2018, 05:29:42 pm »
Hi Folks,

In the last couple of weeks, the behaviour of my Lemon Plec (L144?) has changed very noticeably. I have had this fish for three months (thereabouts) and s/he was very young when first purchased. Initially, Pleccy (original!) would rarely stop eating and was forever on the lookout for food - either blanched sweet pepper/cucumber, pleco wafers or biofilm on surfaces. S/he was not plump and was active during the day.

Now, Pleccy is inactive during the day and shows little interest in food. About an hour ago, I watched other fish eating a piece of pleco wafer about 3-4cm away from where s/he was sitting on the substrate. I'll try to attach a photo later. I should add that water chemistry is excellent but feel free to ask about any parameter. Pleccy emerges from under bogwood when the lights go down but is still pretty inactive. Pleccy's faeces have possibly changed from black to clear.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks in advance.

You said it wasn't plump... does that mean it's plump now? Clear poop is often a symptom of a Capillaria infection (worms). Have you added any fish lately?

    A picture might help.

    Hi blackghost,

    Thanks for your reply.

Unfortunately, I have just discovered that Pleccy has moved on and entered that Great Aquarium In The Sky. I only had the pleasure of knowing him/her for a few months but s/he is one stage further on his/her evolutionary journey.
