just another update to the tank log , i have been getting fed up of the plants in the tank melting and dying so i have just got round to cutting out the inside of the tank lid and removing the old lighting system to make space for the new arcadia dual controller and arcadia reflectors running 1X 15w sunlight lamp and 1 x15w cool glo lamp running for 7hrs in an evening and i have started to add flourish excel 1ml daily at the mo and 1 ml of the flourish comprehensive supplement twice a week which i hope will start to make a difference i am planning on doing between 25 - 50 % water change every week , can any one see if this plan is ok or totally floor'd
cheers stuart

Nice work mate.
Looks really good. Although I'm glad you mentioned the frame, as I've been looking at these pic's and thinking " hmmmmm that really does needs a frame around it".

Cheers , it 100 percent needs a frame was thinking a nice oak one to be honest and then bond it in to place , to anyone that is interested I've used plastic central heating pipe and connections ( new of course) to extend the pipe work and making it suitable for clipping and draining etc

Oak would be nice and keep the natural feel of the tank. One thing I'm wondering is, it might have to be quite a deep frame to hide the plastic edging of the tank, so you might loose quite a bit of viewing width. Is it too late to extend the boarding top and bottom to hide the edging so you can use a slightly narrower frame ?

No it's not too late to alter the bottom by I cannot alter the to as I need the clearance to get the lid on and off , the tank is actually set bk the thickness of the plasterboard . It's goin to be trial and error I was going to make a cardboard template for frame sizes as oak ain't cheep!
