New Oto has strange 'dandelion' attached to it

Hello there
Very much a newbie to the aquarium hobby, with the help of a more experience friend. I've recently purchased two Otos, and all has been well, but I've noticed in the last couple of hours that one has a strange dandelion (sorry, can't think of a more accurate description) attached halfway down its body.
Hasn't shown any ill effects or anything, but as a complete novice I'm a little concerned for their well-being.
I've attached a photo to the post. Appreciate any advice anyone can offer.
Sean

I've done some research and I think it might be a fungal infection?

Hi, I had something similar on one of my corys last year, but on its mouth. I assumed it was some sort of fungal infection it had got after damaging its mouth on my substrate. Unfortunately mine passed away before I got a chance to have a proper look and treat it. I did some research after and it sounded like cotton wool disease? a fungal infection. Hopefully someone with more experience can give you some more guidance though.
Hope yours recovers

That is defo a fungus of some sort.....think of fungi as tiny mushrooms and with such a good close up pic you can see the stalk and top of each one in the cluster.
Try Seachem Paraguard, it’s been pretty good for me! I would start treating ASAP
