H2o2
« on: December 23, 2018, 12:00:19 am »
I'm curious as to what peoples thoughts and opinions are of using H2o2 (Hydrogen Peroxide) in your tanks. From what I've read so far it is suppose to be very good at killing bacteria and algae as well as making the fish and tank healthier in general especially in the shrimp keeping world.

I am trying to find some scientific research on the subject in addition to peoples experiences in using it.

I haven’t used it directly in my tanks, i have used it for getting rid of algae etc off my rocks, wood and plants. However the reaction of h2o2 in water is water with an extra molecule of oxygen.
Not sure about it being healthier for shrimp, maybe some of the shrimp keepers know better :)

Some info in this video,I am thinking of giving it a go in my shrimp tank to see if it affects bba algae.
Think it's best to underdose to be on the safe side.

I've not used it in this tank, but it's used a lot in reefing... From raising the ORP generally to combating marine ich to getting rid of cyanobacteria.

Personally, I'm a fan and wouldn't hesitate to use it again (I have a bottle of 6% in the cabinet just in case).
