Oh yeah just so you know, from my 37 litre tank, I used all the water, rocks, plants and media in the new tank and moved the fish from the 37litre into the bigger tank. Not anticipating any problems but will be checking water quality daily to make sure all ok.

    The fish will be getting rehomed and it will be;

2 male, 4 female cockatoo apistos
12 dwarf pencil fish OR 12 super red cherry barbs (OPINIONS PLEASE!)
    2 small L183 plecos

    Looking good. :)
I'd still be wary of two male cacs together, no matter how many females you have. ;)
Cherry barbs will be a lot cheaper than pencils and are hardier.
If you're having two starlights then I'd only have one male. ;)
Sent from my PC as I still don't understand the the logic for mobile internet usage ;) *grin*

My LFS has really bright red cherries so defo leaning towards them.

My LFS also has the the required amount of of Apisto Aggazzi in. Do I go for them or wait 2/3 weeks for the cacs? Anyone here kept the Aggazzi's?

Thanks for the advice Plankton but I've got my heart set on the two males :) There will be no other stock so thinking they should have enough space.....just need to keep a close eye and worse case I can add one of the males to another tank and get him his own female companion.

As long as you keep your eye on the starlights, that's fine. :)
If it's cycled, go for the apistos. :)

    All finished.

Big sponge filter at one back corner and internal fluval u4 at the other corner but with flow set to lowest flow through the inbuilt spray bar aimed at the back wall so no surface movement apart from the bubbles from the sponge filter. Ph sitting at 6.6 and nitrates maintaining around 10. Did have around 5 but plants were struggling.

Got my two juvenile L183's to add and that'll be a full house.

Got two of these wee crackers in there as well and they all get on fine. The female bettas stick near the top. Gonna get another 2 or 3 or these.

Watch the bettas both with each other and the the endlers.
With a sorority its best to get more than 5, but they may gang up on small fish anyway. ;)

The endlers will suffer in your soft, acidic water as they need hard, alkaline water; best to keep to soft water species.
    (Just a heads up.)

    Your tank looks great.
The apistos look great too.  thumbsup3
Look after your fish and the water, do regular water changes & maintenance, do your research and the hobby will be rewarding.
    All the best

Cheers Plankton, I'm already in discussion with LFS and keeping an eye on Chens Bettas on facebook for another 3 or 4. The two I have just now get on great with each other and all the other fish so looking good so far. I never really gave female bettas a second thought until I saw these in the LFS. Great wee fish!

That's actually been on my mind Stephen. My LFS seems to think they'll be fine as they'll have been farm bred but I've not really came to a fixed opinion on it yet. They do seem to be doing great in fairness and breeding like.....well like guppies  *grin*

I'll do a bit more research and keep an eye on them and may re-home them if I think they're not going to fair well.

Really enjoying the Apistos. The two guys like to square up but nothing serious and all getting on fine.....so far!

    How hard is your water?
Endlers can take a hardness of 6dGH (similar to guppies), but are better above 7.
If they're breeding they probably are ok though.
Do you know how long they're living for?

Scottish water so all I know is that its soft - don't have an actual number.

I've got endler fry that have grown to adult though so looking good so far.

That will probably be softer than what is optimum, you can check on your water supplier's website though. ;)

I'd still be wary of two male cacs together, no matter how many females you have. ;)

I hate to say it but you were correct. I went with the agassizi in the end, 2 males and 4 females and within a week the dominant male was not happy having another male in there. He had the other male hiding up top in the corner looking very stressed. As it turned out the less dominant male had bonded with one of the females so both of them got moved into my main tank and now doing great.

Since then the females have all been doing their 'come get me' dance so hoping for some action soon :)
