Ill plec
« on: April 29, 2019, 02:36:29 pm »
I have had my gold spot plec for about 9years and someone had before me so not sure how old it is.

I had noticed a week or so ago ‘he’ was looking a bit listless and not as active as normal. I have been staying with parents and they have been looking after whil I have been moving, I’ve not been able to keep as much of an eye on them. Looking at ‘him’ yesterday he has a sore mouth. I was worried ‘he’ was on his way out as has seen a bit unbalanced and had rolled over which is very unusual.

I have attached the photo, do you have any advice as to if I can treat ‘him’ as obviously want to try if I can. All my other fish are ok and I have just moved the tank yesterday so all water fresh. I haven’t got a test kit anymore to test water. Plec is usually very hardy and this is first issue I’ve had.

I have also posted in plec part of forum.

My gold spot plec has got a sore bit around his mouth. I only noticed the other day as tank has been at parents while I move house. Tank moved yesterday and before plec has been listless and not its usual self. I have attached a photo. Is there anything I can treat with? All other fish are fine and showing no signs off disease. Plec was spending more time than usual on side of glass and has been a bit unbalanced.

Looks a little like fungus to me, do you have any Pimafix?

    Merged with the other thread....
What are the water parameters like, and what else is in with it?
It looks as though it could be secondary following damage......

I haven’t managed to get my water tested yet although picked up some Pimafix on way home from work. I suspect water quality hasn’t been great with it being in parents care however tank has had a big water change and I’ll get tested asap. In preparation of move I haven’t been stocking the tank for the last year or so and letting numbers dwindle so have 5 Emperor Tetras, 2 rummy nose tetras, 5 black widow tetra and an albino Cory left. I am aware I need to shoal up the rummy’s however I have been waiting until permanent tank move. I haven’t done anything different with plec, have bogwood in the tank. I got live bloodworm for them last week too. Not sure what it would have injured itself on or can they do it easily?
