I'm away for a few days.
« on: May 05, 2019, 03:50:48 pm »
On Monday morning (06/05/2019) I'm going away for a few days, should be back Thursday evening.
We (Gill & I) are going up to the Chester area, visiting Chester zoo, Blue Planet aquarium and some shopping at Cheshire Oaks Coliseum Shopping Park.
I am also hoping to pop over to Llandudno and even visit one or two Maidenhead Aquatics (thinking Meols, Wirral & Belgrade, Chester).

See ya when I get back ..   *2116* *grin*
Look after your fish and the water, do regular water changes & maintenance, do your research and the hobby will be rewarding.
All the best

Thank you Kevin, Louisa & Iain.  thumbsup2

Chester zoo will be a killer for me, all that walking will be so, so painful.
I won't use a mobility scooter, I know I'm silly but call it my stupid pride.
All tickets paid for (zoo & aquarium) and accommodation paid for. Car checked, tyres checked, petrol added, all fluids topped up and new Bosch wiper blades.
    Bags (case) packed.
Look after your fish and the water, do regular water changes & maintenance, do your research and the hobby will be rewarding.

Get a map of the zoo and plan your route, I was there several years ago and I think we added miles onto our visit by zigzagging around. Hopefully you manage to enjoy the exhibits without pain impacting on your trip, it is a great place.
Not sure what it is like now however the zoo's marine tanks crashed a couple of years ago, I believe they have largely been repopulated through frags donated by local hobbyists, it would be interesting to know your thoughts on them.

As per my previous post, hope you both have a great trip.  thumbsup4

    Chester zoo - Tuesday
    Blue Planet aquarium - Wednesday
Shopping - Thursday or Wednesday afternoon

I will get a map of the zoo ;) (I'm not writing off the use of a mobility scooter, I might bite the bullet, I'll decide when we get there).

I have added 3 days supply of liquid plant food to my tank.
The fish will get a good feed before we leave and another on our return.

    back soon ..  *grin*

If you're doing the zoo first, might be worth taking the scootscoot so you have energy to enjoy the other days? There's no shame in being mechanically assisted if you need it. Would you shame someone for trying to make the most of their life? Ain't no one worth it that would do either x

    I'm back  :(

I did bite the bullet and use a mobility scooter at Chester zoo.
I actually got to see all the exhibs which I would not of done without the mobility scooter.

    Did I run anyone over?
    Yes, almost.
I turned a corner, spotted a fellow photographer and instead of stopping I accelerated (not intentionally).
I even used my feet in an attempt to avoid a collision and ran over my own foot in the process.
An accident was just avoided and I mean just, probably by less than an inch.
I got talking to the other photographer, and talked, and talked .. to Gill's annoyance as she had walked on, and then came back (after about 10 minutes or so) looking for me..
After I returned the mobility scooter, we went to the car and grabbed a drink. I told Gill I needed to use the loo so I grabbed my stick and headed to the loo (back inside the zoo entrance).
I bumped in to the same guy that I almost ran over earlier and we talked, and talked … (Gill came looking for me as she was a little concerned as I had been a while).
"I should of guessed" she said. She knows I like to talk to people especially other people with the same interests.

We had a good time at Chester zoo on Tuesday and the weather was good too.  *grin*

BTW all the fish are fine.
