Urgent help please losing fish rapidly ☹️
« on: July 31, 2019, 11:17:02 am »
Hello all I’m in need of some urgent help please

110l tank
All Pond Solutions 1000EF Aquarium External Filter
Air tubing
Planted

Water test with api master kit
Ammonia - 0
Nitrite - 0
Ph - 7.2
Nitrate - 10

Temp 26c

Tanks been running for about 2 years

Ok so my problem is I had a very stable tank rarely saw a death in about year I had some gourami and dwarf chilids that I got rid of as I wanted to have just guppies and tetras so they went off to a good new home and last weekend I went and bought some new guppies, endlers and tetra over the last 4/5 days they are all dying rapidly I have lost 3 endlers 4 guppies 3 tetra some from my existing stock and today I lost my albino Bristlenose that I have had for about 2 years

There does not seem to be any signs of illness they seem fine one minute then the next there dead I was doing my water change of 25% that I do weekly at the weekend then suddenly a tetra just floated to the top as I was syphoning out the water no signs of illness before hand.

Today I noticed one of my tetras was brighter red by the tail, and my Bristlenose looks very bruised but I did find him in between my rocks i will attach the pics at the end, these are the first signs I’ve seen so I’m not sure if it’s related to the other deaths or not.

At the weekend when doing my water change I put in some King British disease clear

Current stock

6 ammon shrimp
10 nitrite snails
6 tetra
4 endlers
6 guppies

Please help before my others all die 😢 currently they look healthy apart from the tetra but that doesn’t seem to mean anything they just die with no apparent reason

    Sorry for your losses :(
The mark on the neon looks like columnaris or the beginnings of it. This may have affected the other fish if it has been brought in with the new stock.
Cant remember off hand how to treat it though :/

I think it may be looking like that and it does say that no symptoms are seen sometimes. unfortunately the tetra I took a picture of earlier has now also passed,

I have looked at different treatments for it but am concerned that it will effect my shrimp and snails due to containing copper.

Does anymore know a product I can use that would be safe that I could get from a pets at home as that’s all I have close to me

    Thanks again

You could try Melafix it has anti-bacterial properties.

Will pop out and get some hopefully that sorts the problem out there are no others with any signs of it at the moment but that doesn’t seem to mean anything fine one minute floating the next it’s so sad 😭

Melafix won't do anything against columnaris, you'll want one of the meds that says it deals with it. I can't remember which ones do.
Sent from my PC as I still don't understand the the logic for mobile internet usage ;) *grin*

And the guppy has passed its so strange he has no discolouration no sores or white spots or patches just no signs of anything, the only thing I notice was he was separated from the other in the top corner and wouldn’t eat

The new arrivals have probably brought something in with them, and passed it on.
