The end for me
« on: August 02, 2019, 11:06:51 am »
It is with heavy heart and frustration that, after nearly 20 years with the site in one form or another, I've eventually decided to no longer attend this site, at least on a regular basis.

There was a mass exodus at the beginning of last year when I considered not staying here, but I am the optimist and thought that a new injection of enthusiasm would spur the Canadian owners into action to bring the site up-to-date.....but I was wrong. :(

It is a shame that a site that was originally set up in good faith to help with the fishkeeping "hobby" was taken over (for various reasons at the time) by a "conglomerate" who wanted the action for advertising etc., has been left to deteriorate on the scale that TFF has.

Stephen has done his best to keep it running, but obviously the Canadians don't care.

I haven't been enjoying my membership recently, and certainly have lost my enthusiasm, although I still want to help keep fish alive if possible, just not here anymore.

I will be taking my T-shirt with me though - I had to pay for it! ;)

Take care of you fish everyone.

plankton.
Sent from my PC as I still don't understand the the logic for mobile internet usage ;) *grin*
I really hate "autocorrupt"!!!

Take it easy

Take care Ian, you have been the No1 contributor on this forum for many years.
The advise and help that you have given over the years has been invaluable, you have helped 1000's of members including myself.
A BIG thank you, all the best mate.

    Stephen
Look after your fish and the water, do regular water changes & maintenance, do your research and the hobby will be rewarding.
    All the best
    Stephen

I can only second/third the thank yous for all your help Ian. I remember joining here and reading the information you would give everyone and it making perfect sense to me. Definitely helped me vastly improve my knowledge of fish and fish keeping. (I laugh looking back now at some of the things i thought i knew  *grin*)

That's a shock and a huge shame. Thanks for all the help and advice you've given me personally. Great loss to the site and community. Hope you find joy helping people elsewhere.

Again incredibly sad. I hope this forum doesn't disappear altogether, but understandably given the circumstances it is losing a lot of its biggest supporting members.

Wish you the best Plankton, and Hope all you guys enjoy the other forum and get your enthusiasm back.

I didn't know you plankton, but anyone who dedicates so much time and experience as a mod on forums for very little to zero reward is a good'en. Good luck for the future.

Looks like I have been retired, no longer able to access the Mods area. So like Ian, after many years a member here I no longer seem to 'fit'.
I realise I havent contributed to the forums for some time, but have been running the Facebook side of things. I think I'm stepping down from that also. No support or contact from anyone. See you all on the other side :)
    It's an obsession!   *fish2*
