Dropsy
« on: September 30, 2019, 04:22:29 pm »
Hello,
I noticed one of my guppies was bloated a couple of days ago. Today though it's scales are sticking outwards. I have a small tank to put him in but it's been switched off for a few weeks. I was thinking of replacing half the water with water in my large tank and switching everything back on, plus putting a some of the media from my large filter in there.

I have some melafix, however I have no aquarium salts to treat the dropsy. My local pet stores don't really sell much fish products so I doubt they'll sell the salts (I will look though) I do however have a local Holland and Barrett that might sell Epson salts, would these be okay to use incase I can't get any aquarium ones? They say they are 100% natural with no additive.

Any other help would be appreciated

Hi. Yes the Epsom won’t be a problem, but once bloat becomes dropsy it’s usually too late. Good luck.

I've heard the mortality rate is high. I guess I can only try. Thanks
