Replacement filter sponges
« on: February 13, 2020, 12:51:18 pm »
Any recommendations on buying sponges for replacing existing ones in my filters? I have a fluval internal for the 60ltr tank, and several smaller ones of various makes. I also have a couple of air driven filters with the ridged sponges, and a couple where the air driven filter is inside a canister with stones at the bottom and a couple of layers of different sponges. They have served well over 16 months now and seem to clog up pretty quickly now.

My thoughts are that sponges aren't really all technical in nature so was thinking of just using ordinary sponge and/or with green the scrubbing pads you can buy for next to nothing. After all, so I think, they only need to remove particles and allow a useful friendly bacteria to bloom in them.
