What is going on - Black beard algae? and Moss!?
« on: April 28, 2020, 08:32:41 pm »
Hi everyone,

A little bit confused as to what's going on in my tank.

So as you can see in the pics an algae has taken hold of different areas in the tank - I believe this could be black beard algae?

But strangely, at the same time, what looks like moss has grown at the same time? Both the algae and moss are growing on wood, plastic and silk (plants). I actually don't mind either the algae or moss for now but I'm aware it could get out of hand.

Now, I did have flame moss in the tank - introduced years ago but it never really took. Could the green moss be that? Or is the green 'moss' just the same/different algae? If it's moss wouldn't it be strange for it to grow/flourish on plastic like it is doing?
