Return Pump size / flow rate per hour 275 litre tank

Setup Questions from a Returning Member

Evening all, I have reintroduced myself on a separate thread.

Having googled lots, popped into Maidenhead Aquatics to pick their brains and having looked through previous threads on here.

Question........

What size return pump shall I use for a Tropical (eventually planted) 275litre with a sump?

So many differing opinions out there but mainly seeing 5 to 10 times circulation for tank size. I would always like to go with over capacity, however I don't want to go too big that it causes me an issue. .

Currently contemplating the TMC Connect 3500 https://www.fishkeeper.co.uk/tmc-reef-pump-connect-marine-aquarium-water-pump

I don't mind going bigger for the 5000, but is this just overkill and unnecessary.

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Look forward to diving back into the hobby .
