Quiest Filter - is there such a beast?
« on: September 23, 2020, 06:58:52 pm »
I have the All Pond Solutions EFX+ canister filter filled with Biohome media (no foam filter media) and the All Pond solutions EF-2 Pre-Filter. I have found this combination works really well in keeping the water clear and the fish healthy; I also only have to clean the pre-filter from time to time and never open the main filter as no dirt gets through to it.

My problem is excessive noise from the EFX+. It's in the cabinet for the tank and with the doors closed I'm getting about 47DB of noise from about 1 metre away; I have to keep the door to the room with the fish tank in closed due to the noise.

Is there such a thing as a quiet filter, or as quiet as you can get?

I was thinking about one of the larger Eheim filters such as the Professional 4+ as I've heard it's fairly quiet, or maybe the Fluval FX6, maybe you know better?

Doesn't have to be an Eheim, I'd just heard good things about them.

My tank holds approx. 125ltrs of water.

I have 2 Ehiem Pro 600's running on my Rio 450 and can't hear them. I also have the pre filters fitted. Clean them out at every water change so only clean the main filters once a year.
