He did moan at the size a bit but didn't specifically say no so..watch this space, but I was thinking of using one of the filters in my little tank as the one I have is rubbish.
I think you're a bit too far away to take it anyhow I'm in sunderland.
Lurch I think there's one of each but both look different to the website. Pics in morning.

Just busy filling it. Does it make much difference if it is slightly on a slope so more water is at the front? By about 3mm according to spirit level.

I've emptied the tank and levelled it a bit better. What do you think of this stocking? Its just a rough idea. There is 1 warning that the tiger barb is too aggressive but i've read if kept in a large shoal they are fine, any comments as i love them?
http://aqadvisor.com/AquStockImage.php?N=&L=48&D=18&H=20&J=&UV=gUS&UL=inch&F=7:200909300161:,8:200909300155:,10:200909300094:,10:200909300232:,6:200909300041:,2:200909300061:,10:200909300039:,6:201002041215:
Thats 98% stocked any comments welcome. Decided not to have guppies as they need a ph of 7 and mine occasionally drops to 6 so dont want to risk it.

Hi Zelda
The new tank looks great, some people have all the luck!!!!
Your stocking looks fine,if you are worried the tiger barbs may be a bit too boisterous go for 5 banded barbs instead, they look very similar(much nicer IMO) and are a lot more peaceful.

I've read silver sand is good for aquariums...is this the right thing because it seems too cheap
http://www.homebase.co.uk/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?langId=110&storeId=10151&partNumber=877989
at £5 it seems too good to be true (so probably is)

That's good value!! Mind you, in £/kg, it's pretty much the same as play sand, but if it's better stuff, then all good!

Well, I ended up going for the Argos play sand after all as I needed to go over that way anyhow. It's all in now just waiting for it to settle then going to move fish over in the next few days, probably after the other 'quins have spawned.
Btw how often should they spawn? Cos I'm sure the one that did the other day is ready again, unless I have 3 females, but didn't think I did.

All done, just need to start adding more fish cos its a bit bare.
Can't believe how much happier the fish look now, they're swimming all over, into the water flow (playing), into the air bubbles etc. Wish i'd gotton a bigger tank earlier now.
Can start to concentrate on my daughter birthday cake now the tanks finished (its on Thursday and haven't started yet)

Well the fish still seem happy this morning, 2 female harlequins are spawning so they must be. Thing is they're trying to lay their eggs on the heater lol. need to get another big leafed plant for them. I do have one but they seem to pass it and take no notice.
Edit: scrap that, there are 3 females so the males have got 1 each lol

Just got 5 Praecox rainbowfish. They haven't quite "blued" up yet so a bit silvery with a hint of blue. They seem to like schooling with the harlequins at the minute. Heres a few pics though they are not that good as they wont keep still and the yellow guppy keeps getting in frame lol
I'll try get some better ones later, just been a busy day today!
