Which cory to have with guppies?
« on: June 28, 2012, 09:42:26 pm »
i'm currently cycling my tank but when its finished im interested to know what kind of corys i should have. (i know i wont be putting them in for a couple of months after its cycled - the guppies will go in first but still am thinking about it early)

i intend to have a few male guppies in the tank but other than that i'd like corys, but which type of corys (albino, bronze, peppered, julli, sterbai etc) would go best with the guppies? in terms of temprature and ease of keeping etc, as this is my first tropical tank.

Thank you

Jess

I've kept all sorts with my guppies. Pandas are quite good, as the guppies can take lower temperatures.

From what ive read pandas can be pretty hard for a beginner? What other corys would be happy at 25-26 degrees?

Almost anything. Pandas aren't that difficult to be fair, it's just people put them in tanks that are too warm.
    What size tank is it?

oh i see - i assumed that 25-26 would be a bit too warm for them. its a 48 litre tank so not huge - i couldnt have many. id like to have some type of dwarf cory so i could have more but ive been to every single aquatics place within half an hour of me and there arent any anywhere. so i was just investigating the regular corys and the ones i have found so far are the pandas, the sterbais, the false juliis and the albino and bronze ones and the peppered

If it's only 48l, then you do need to be looking at pygmeus or habrosus, but they ARE difficult to keep, I haven't managed it yet :(
