The little office tank
«

At work we have a little interpet fish box 48l
I picked it up for the office a few months back complete with a stand, light, heater, blue gravel, plastic plants and shipwreck.
Anyway after cycling it was stocked with a few hardy fish and has been running with out issues.
so after looking at it for the past few weeks and getting a bit bored i'm going to change to a sand substrate and go mildly planted....
pics of the current setup will follow when I get home.
My question first of all is, as this will be done on a budget, I'm going with playsand, but will I need any substrate underneath? my home tank I went with the same sand but with tetra complete under?
and is fert dosing necessary? again I dose easy carbo at home daily.
I have some spare bogwood at home which I will soak and plant wise will be sticking with sag and java etc, keeping it simple and easy to maintain..
