What have you done with your aquarium/tank today?
« on: September 02, 2013, 02:26:37 pm »
Just wondered what people have done with their aquariums today?

I'll start...

My Kribs had babies two weeks ago, and the babies are big enough to swim now...
The parent Kribs moved the 50-70 babies out of the plant pot and into the middle of the sand, in the most open spot possible. The parents then got really defensive and I woke up this morning to find they've killed 4 of my Danio's  *bye3*
I've caught the parents and got them in a breeder with 5 of the babies... couldn't catch any more so they were effectively live food!  *bye3*

Anyone else?...

Ordered a HMA filter set up to try and improve the water conditions for the fish.
Dosed my tanks with TNC Carbon this morning.
Tonight is move nano tank to the bedroom (easier said than done) and clean my main yank.

100% water change on the show fish tank, fed a handful of beef heart to the display tank and rescued a cory from one of my sponge filter uplift pipes in the qt tank.

Do they love the beef heart? Do you add anything else in with the heart?

Last night I moved around 15 2 month old mollies from my small tank to my big tank. This morning I checked that everyone was ok and gave them and my plants some breakfast :)

Now my small tank is sitting empty so will be giving it a good scrub down and then dosing with ammonia until I can decide what to do with it... *blink*

Yes! I'm leaning more toward just a couple of shrimp. That way I can keep it cycled and have it as a hospital/qt tank  *grin*

Watched as a (scarily) large number of baby shrimps emerged from their hidey-holes to feast on some peas I had put in for the cherries to munch on. Also enjoyed my bamboo shrimp feeding in the filter stream on his favourite piece of bog wood.

I'll be taking out the remaining pieces of cucumber that have been in for 2 days now. One has almost entirely gone with the other now missing most of the middle (and these were rather large home grown ones!). Fasting day for the next 2 days me thinks.

I'd remove the parent kribs from the breeder box.  They will eat the fry soon. The fry are old enough to cope on their own now. I wouldn't keep them in the box for long either as it stunts their growth.  You always need two tanks on the go with kribs.

I've cleaned the betta tank.  Still got the shrimp tank and the 180 to do. Multiple tanks were a good idea at the time!

Weekly 25% water change, scrubbed inside if glass and straightened out the fine gravel that my BNs keep digging up. Polished outside of glass. Now having a little look online to see about adding one or two more fish to 'play' with my fish.

I ordered an APS 2000ef+ and some extra media off eBay.

I fed my fish some cichlid
Tablets, some spirinula tablets and some catfish pellets. Also some cucumber mainly for the cray.

Watched my crayfish push several rocks which are at least 20x his size around the tank to make a tunnel have 2 ends rather than just one. Haha. And be ate the whole cucumber slice.

I also watched my cichlids fight over a spirinula tablet only to be both well and truly beaten off it by the 4.5" Featherfin :)

    Eventful day :)

I also added ammonia to my cycling tank and stirred the sand in my new tank which has no filter as of yet :)
